Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard defended President Donald Trump over Section 230, telling the president the future of the country is at stake if the law is not abolished.

Trump sent out a tweet Wednesday night saying Section 230 is a threat to national security and election integrity that is only helping big tech companies. The president then said Section 230 should be completely terminated.

The Democratic congresswoman tweeted back at Trump saying he has her full support.

“Section 230, which is a liability shielding gift from the U.S. to ‘Big Tech’ (the only companies in America that have it – corporate welfare!), is a serious threat to our National Security & Election Integrity. Our Country can never be safe & secure if we allow it to stand…..,” Trump tweeted.

“Therefore, if the very dangerous & unfair Section 230 is not completely terminated as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), I will be forced to unequivocally VETO the Bill when sent to the very beautiful Resolute desk. Take back America NOW. Thank you!,” Trump continued in a tweet.

Gabbard then quoted Trump and said, “I fully support you on this. Please don’t back down. The freedom and future of our country is at stake.”

In a Thursday tweet, Trump accused Republicans in Congress of getting “cold feet” on abolishing Section 230, days after he vowed to veto military spending until it includes the removal of the law.

Congress is currently working on passing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the yearly bill that funds military priorities, but Trump has said he would veto any version of the bill that does not include abolishing Section 230.
