Former Pike County sheriff sentenced to three years in prison

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — Former Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader has been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of theft in office, tampering with evidence and conflict of interest.

Reader, 47, pleaded guilty on charges related to stealing money from arrests, then attempting to cover it up.

The felony charges to which Reader pled guilty all relate to evidence bags containing seized currency that were in Reader’s possession.
