Highlands wins first state basketball title behind standout Vinson

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Highlands High School has won 23 state football championships and has had great success in its history reaching the Kentucky Boys’ Sweet 16 basketball tournament, but on Saturday night the Bluebirds finally broke through and won a state title in that sport.

Senior guard Sam Vinson, a Northern Kentucky University commit, scored 20 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, had five assists, three blocked shots and one steal to lead Highlands to a 79-60 win over Elizabethown in the championship game at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
