CINCINNATI — Cincinnati City Council member Wendell Young has been indicted on a felony charge.
Young has been charged with tampering with records in relation to the so-called “Gang of Five” text message scandal that unfolded in 2018.
The indictment involves Young’s cellphone, alluding to the deleting of text messages.
According to the indictment, Young — knowing he had no privilege to do so — “falsified, destroyed, removed, concealed, altered, defaced or mutilated” text messages or writing that belonged to a local, state or federal government entity.
