Senate Democrats announced Tuesday night that they have reached a budget agreement among themselves that envisions spending an enormous $3.5 trillion over the coming decade.

The plan is far less than the $6 trillion that Democrats initially wanted, but it did not have the support of moderate centrists in the caucus.
