White House declares monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency

More Than 6,600 Confirmed Infections – Overwhelmingly Among Gay And Bi-Sexual Men

America’s monkeypox outbreak was declared a public health emergency by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Thursday afternoon after the nation’s infection tally hit 6,617 cases.

Secretary Xavier Becerra revealed the shift to an emergency status in a press conference, saying he was prepared to go ‘to the next level’ and urging every American to ‘take monkeypox seriously’.
