COVINGTON, Ky. —
The family of a 9-year-old who ran away from children’s home and drowned in the Ohio River is struggling with his death six months later.
For the first time, the grandparents and guardians of Ian Sousis are speaking publicly about his death.

“He’d say, ‘I’ll love you forever and I will love you always, Memaw. I will love you even after you die.’ And I was supposed to die first. He wasn’t supposed to die,” said Sousis’ grandmother Rhonda O’Brien.
